Our Action Adhesives range of VST Tapes are exceptionally strong, durable, flexible and adaptable.

They provide an alternative to mechanical fastners, screws, rivets and welds. VST Tapes work by permanently bonding one substrate to another. This distributes the stress load across the joint. Upon joining the materials, the tape creates an exceptional weld.

Our tapes are available in a choice of 3 colours, with various thickness and a selection of widths ranging from 12mm, 19mm to 25mm.

VST Tapes in the Automotive Industry

VST tapes are used widely in the automotive sector. They can be found in cars, buses, trucks and trains. They can even be found in use the Aerospace and marine sectors on planes or boats. The uses are broad and include:

  • Structural bonding of panels, whether this is on a truck, bus or other vehicle.
  • Interior and exterior trim fixing

VST Tapes in the Construction Industry

VST tapes can be found used in many construction applications. This includes both interior and exterior applications. VST tapes are used widely for bonding cladding panels and glass facades to aluminum frames. They are also used as an adhesive in the creation of shop fronts.

VST tapes are perfect for windows such as sky lights, BIPV photovoltaic windows and in bomb proof windows.

Once inside, VST tapes are used in the creation of partitions, in the creation of ceiling climate control systems and in many doors. They can also be found in many elevators keeping the interior, ceiling and doors firmly in place.

Instructions for use

  1. Ensure substrates to be bonded are completely clean, dry and free from dust, grease, loose particles and other contaminants. Best cleaner is IPA Solvent applied with a clean cloth or tissue and applied in one direction only.
  2. To obtain the optimum bond, sufficient pressure should be applied to the surface being bonded. To ensure good adhesive ‘wet-out’, typical pressure should be 15psi = 100kpa. The adhesive is pressure sensitive so best results are achieved with maximum surface contact under pressure.
  3. After 20 mins, 50% of the bond strength is achieved. 90% of the optimum bond strength is achieved after 24 hours and 100% strength after 72 hours.
  4. Avoid significant load bearing to the bond directly after application.
  5. Recommended Application Temperature is +20°C to +36°C. Minimum Application Temperature should not be below +10°C
  6. Certain substrates will require priming or sealing such as porous surfaces ie plaster, concrete. Also absorbent substrates such as wood or fabrics.
  7. Metals with oxidised surfaces such as aluminium, copper and brass may need priming. Low energy surfaces such as polypropylene plastics or plastics containing aggressive plasticisers may also need treatment.
